Punjab: Upset over non-payment of their two-month salaries and shutting down of the company without prior notice, hundreds of garment workers took to street in Noida, India. The workers of Ivory Clothing accused the company of cheating them while protesting in front of its office in Sector 59 area of the region.
A team of officials from the Labour Department, police and district administration arrived at the spot to pacify the agitating workers. They called off their protest after getting assurance from the company officials, who were called at the spot, that their dues would be cleared in two days.
A similar protest was also recently organized by workers of Dhir Global Industries Pvt. Ltd., Gurugam who were not paid their salaries since the Centre announced demonetization. Later the company announced to clear their dues in two instalments.
