Mumbai: Sweden-based global furniture giant, which is set to debut in India by early next year, is planning to make India as the centre for manufacturing sofas and furniture for its global stores. This was announced by Ikea India CEO Juvencio Maeztu. Manufacturing in India is likely to decrease the cost of its products offered in the country.
The idea to minimise price is aimed to increase the home furnishing retailer’s customer base as it wants to make everyone from ‘boss to maid’ its customers.
In the Indian market, Ikea will make an investment of around Rs. 10,500 crores to set up about 25 stores in the country by the year 2025.
