Bangladesh urges India to remove trade barriers 

Mumbai: At the recently organized two-day Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India, Bangladesh’s Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed urged the Indian Government to remove trade barriers for its neighbour.

The Minister said, “India has a very big market. The country provides duty- and quota-free access to all Bangladeshi products (except tobacco and alcohol), but still Bangladesh is failing to export commodities to the country up to the expected level due to some duty-related complications; India should come forward to remove the tariff and non-tariff trade complications.”

In a meeting with Indian Trade and Industries Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Tofail  mentioned that export-import between the two countries should increase further.

Over 2,000 delegates from 51 countries converged in Vishakhapatnam for Partnership Summit, which is the annual flagship event of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and is organized in association with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The Summit enables close examination of the partnerships and synergies that will spark the next phase of global growth and develop strong multi-country linkages and networks to assist the transformation of the global economy.
