Mumbai: IKEA has lost legal battle to Aikya Global. This defeat has come at the time when furniture maker is planning to open its first store in India by September this year. The Sweden-based leading multinational retailer of ready-to-assemble furniture and other home appliances, filed trademark suit against local companies, including Aikya and HR firm Ikya Human Capital Solutions in 2013 over trademark infringement.
IKEA got ex parte injunction against them which prompted Ikya Global to change its name to Ajira Global. A district court in New Delhi has dismissed a trademark violation case against Bengaluru based Aikya Global. It was in June 2015 when a court in New Delhi had vacated the injunction against Aikya, now ruling in favour of the local company.
