Mumbai: Sachin Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation is facing water shortage since last two months. More than 60 textile dyeing and printing mills in Surat are on the verge of closure due to inadequate availability of water in the area. They have asked the notified area authority to restore water supply or else the industry will have to shut down, every unit require around 60 million litres per day of water, against which 50 per cent of the respected demand is managed through private water tanks, this leads the companies towards huge additional cost which is unbearable for the unit owners. The Unit owners are waiting for 35 MLD tertiary treated water to be supplied by SMC, rest will be met by the notified area authority’s pipeline network.
