Assam Govt. to promote Silk

Assam: The Assam Handloom and Sericulture Minister said that the Assam (India) Government has decided to create a wildlife sanctuary and plant trees to produce eri and muga cocoons. The Government is planning to plant 25 lakh trees for the same. A slew of measures like setting up of Assam Silk Outreach Mission and Yarns Banks has also been taken by the State Government for the benefit of the sector. The Assam Silk Outreach Mission plays a vital role in promoting various silk products from the region. Yarn Banks has also become operational in nine districts while others districts will get it soon.
