Austria: Lenzing has developed a new Tencel variant based on cotton scraps and wood. Known as Refibra, the new development is described as the first cellulose fibre featuring recycled material on a commercial scale.
Refibra stands for ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ with a strap line of ‘Reborn Tencel Fibre’ and is expected to build Lenzing’s reputation as a leader in the field of environmental fibre technology and push for new solutions in the textile industry towards a circular economy by recycling production waste. Also, the manufacturer has developed a new identification system which enables the consumer to check the authenticity of Refibra fibre’s application in the finished textile products, and whether it’s recycled or not.
