progenMumbai: The Apparel Export Promotion Council’s (AEPC) initiative ‘Progen’ was launched recently. AEPC is the apex body of Indian apparel export industry. So far, Progen has 108 members across India, divided into 8 zones. Each Zonal Head will attend the Executive Committee (EC) meeting of AEPC, exchange ideas with other members of Progen, and share their views with the EC. The primary target for the young members are new ways of marketing with focus on social media, more and more use of information technology in apparel manufacturing and trade. Deepak Agrawal of Naman Merchandising Services, Nikhil Thukral of Twenty Second Miles, Abhishek Verma of Prav Enterprises and Harshit Baheria of Goodwill Fabrics are the volunteers working as interim zonal heads for Chennai/Tirupur, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bangalore, respectively. These groups are already having meetings in various hubs like Mumbai, Noida and Jaipur for further expansion of the concept. Ashok Rajani, Chairman, AEPC, who initiated this idea, strongly feels that such initiatives were the need of the hour and the youth will strengthen the promotion of apparel export from India.
