The steps was being taken to revive a unit of Cement Corporation of India (CCI), which was closed down due to operational losses in 1998, causing loss of employment to 2,000 employees. Besides, a flyover bridge is going to be erected in the town for easing traffic congestion.
Similarly, a cotton cluster would soon be established in Adilabad as it is the largest producer of cotton. It will help generate employment for local youths. Also, proposals are being prepared for converting Rajura-Adilabad network into national highway. Steps are being taken to set up an airport on 400 acres of land already acquired on the outskirts of the town. The Minister said that the farmers of Telangana and Maharashtra would benefit with the help of Chanaka-Korata barrage erected across Penganga on the borders of the two States, as part of a mutual agreement. Surveys would be taken up for laying railway line between Armoor and Adilabad. The farmers could get high prices for cotton and soya produces in the last agriculture season.
