Mumbai: India-based Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) took part in the recently concluded Heimtextil Germany 2017, the biggest international trade fair for home textiles and household, organized in Frankfurt. The fair is known for showcasing latest trends and innovations in home furnishing, home textiles, floor covering, crocheted lace and embroidery, etc.

India’s participation at the fair was organized by the Council in order to provide the marketing opportunity to the stakeholders of Narsapur Mega Cluster under Market Promotion Scheme. Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, EPCH said that the participation at Heimtextil 2017 would create the market integration and help in direct market linkages with buyers.

The India Pavilion under Incredible Textiles of India was jointly organized, including EPCH Pavilion, TEXPROCIL, HEPC, HHEC, and PEDEXCIL. It was inaugurated by Raveesh Kumar, Consul General of India, Frankfurt, T.G. Ramesh, Vice Consul (E&C), Consulate General of India, Frankfurt, Germany, and Puneet Agarwal, IAS, Joint Secretary, Indian Ministry of Textiles along with other senior official of the Consulate and member exporters.

It may be mentioned here that Germany is the fourth largest country where Indian handicrafts are being exported. The handicraft exports to Germany during the year 2015-16 stood at Rs. 1,146.88 crore in comparison to Rs. 1,078.46 crore during 2014-15.
