Khadi Board bags order of wrinkle-free fabric from Raymond

Mumbai: In a major achievement by Jharkhand State Khadi and Gramodyog Board (JSKGB), it has bagged order for the state of the art wrinkle free fabric, prepared by the local artisans of Jharkhand from country s leading textile brand  Raymond .

Counting the achievements of the Board during the last one year, Chairman Sanjay Seth said that the first  Khadi Plaza  of Jharkhand will also be coming up soon over one acre of land in Jamshedpur.

Making a landmark achievement made by the Khadi Board, we have succeeded in bagging an order for wrinkle and maintenance free fabric, indigenously prepared by the weavers of Hariharganj, from Raymond,  said Seth. Initially, the company will purchase 400-500 meters of cloth, which will further be enhanced to 10000-15000 meters as per the response shown by the buyers, he added.

Out of a total of 29 samples sent to the company, 15 have been approved and order has been placed for them,  said the Chairman. Out of the 15 samples approved by Raymond, 6 were of tassar, added Seth.

The Sate Khadi Board Chairman also claimed that several Khadi Parks also to come us soon including Amada in Kharsawan having 200 reeling machines to produce silk thread indigenously to break the monopoly of China from where it is currently being imported.

It will be inaugurated by September 25 and is being developed like a tourist spot,  said Seth. Besides that, Khadi Parks are also being raised at Rajnagar, Dumka and Silli also, he added.

A multistoried  Khadi Plaza  at Jugsali and Jamshedpur has also been proposed for which 1 acre of land has been identified to be constructed involving Rs 10 crore and will have different products of Khadi on each of the floors,  Seth said. First ultra-modern show room of the Country was also being prepared at Ratu Road in Ranchi and will be opened very soon, he added.

In order to give a boost to the sale of Khadi and promote its products among youths, Jharkhand State Khadi Board has also been planning to give franchisee to open showrooms to the private parties also in and outside the State.

Three applications from Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Sahebganj have also been received and a decision over them will be taken very soon,  he said. Seth claimed that the sale of khadi products was not affected either due to demonetization or due to imposition of Goods and Services Tax.

According to Seth, Khadi Board has completely been computerized and no product could be sold out without billing after the introduction of bar code. Even the production has been digitized while all the emporiums were also being digitized.

Seth said that the State Khadi Board has also succeeded in providing market to the state of the art jewelry and lac products from the State and providing them a market though Khadi Board, which has been liked by the foreigners also. Training programme was also being conducted all over the State to the people of rural background so that they could earn a living by it, he said.

According to Seth, after taking over the office by him as Chairman of State Khadi Board, number of emporiums all in and outside the State has increased from 4 to 15, including Country s best Khadi outlet  Johar Emporium  at posh Connaught Place in New Delhi which was doing a business of more than Rs 50,000 per day.
