Mumbai: Ozurgeti Garment will soon be opening a garment factory in Ozurgeti, the capital of the Georgian province of Guria. The company is setting up this unit to support the ‘Produce in Georgia’ initiative of the State Government. The infrastructural facilities available and the strategic location make the city of Ozurgeti an ideal place for the factory setup. The garment manufacturing unit is expected to go operational by 2018.
The factory will produce jeans for brands like Mango, Zara and many others. The products manufactured at the Ozurgeti Garment’s new factory will carry a ‘Made in Georgia’ tag. The Government officials recently met the owner of the company, Osman Baikan and Director, Hakan Chobanoglu to discuss the future course.
Turkish company Baykanlar, owned by Ozurgeti Garment, will also be investing nearly 2 million Georgian Lari (GEL) in the factory. It will employ over 300 people to handle various operations at the unit. In the next three years, Baykanlar aims to employ 1,500 more workers and increase its investment to US $ 15 million.
